What advice can you give to someone suffering with digestive problems?
For those struggling with digestive problems here are Isabelle’s top tips:
1. EAT A FRESH AND VARIED BALANCED DIET.
When did you last take a good look at your diet and notice what you are really eating on a regular basis?
It’s easy to think you are eating healthily even if you are not. You may start to experience problems if for instance, you are consuming lot of dairy, wheat or other grains, coffee, sugar, meat and processed foods.
Too much of these kind of foods can upset the natural balance of the body. Once there is a build up toxicity in the bowel then you may start to experience irregular bowel movements, bloating, fatigue, low mood and generally feeling out of sorts.
2. AVOID DRINKING A LOT OF WATER WITH THE MEAL.
If you feel thirsty it’s best to drink before you eat.
Washing down each mouthful with a glass of water minimises the important function of saliva. Too much liquid in the stomach during the meal will dilute your digestive juices that are supposed to be working on breaking down food. Sugary drinks or coffee can also really interfere with the digestive process .
Always drink plenty of water between meals: it won’t interfere with digestion and it can help you to eat less and lose weight. Many people confuse dehydration with hunger.
3. MAKE EATING A SACRED TIME. EAT SLOWLY AND ENJOY YOUR FOOD.
Do you to take time over eating or do you always tend to be in a rush and eating on the go? Are you watching the TV or sitting at your desk when you eat? Are you whizzing down the street with your phone glued to your ear and eating a sandwich at the same time? Are you even tasting your food anymore?
When you rush a meal you miss out on the important first steps of digestion which take place in the mouth.
When we eat slowly and chew our food thoroughly, we create the necessary enzymes that will allow our food to break down. However when we eat in a hurry we don’t chew properly, and therefore these enzymes are not secreted.
We are also more likely to swallow a lot of air with our food. All of these factors can cause gas, bloating and indigestion on a daily basis which is unpleasant and will make us feel unwell.
Sitting at a table to eat and taking the time to chew allows the body to create the enzymes that are needed to break down food in the right way. If you have to eat at your desk when you’re at work, then do not work at the same time – turn the computer screen off, read a book or newspaper. Then take a stroll.
4. TAKE REGULAR EXERCISE
How much exercise are you taking? Are you allowing the body to de-stress regularly?
Stress and a busy lifestyle can have a major impact on the digestive process and exercise is a great way to relieve stress. Keep your body moving with regular exercise and keep your digestive tract moving with a consistent exercise routine that may help you avoid a sluggish digestion, constipation, gas, bloating and cramps. I recommend regular yoga and walking for optimum digestion.
5. EAT FOODS WHICH SUIT YOUR BODY TYPE.
When you start eating for your body type you will be amazed at how quickly your body will adapt. Your energy will improve and your body will function optimally. If you are overweight you will lose extra pounds. Equally, if you are underweight, you can gain those few extra pounds you need.

What training do you need to become a Kinesiologist?
To become a practitioner of Systematic Kinesiology you will need to train with an accredited trainer.
Training can take 1-3 years depending on which level you’re looking to achieve. Courses normally run on a monthly basis over a weekend.
In between, you will have homework and will start to practise Kinesiology with family, friends or colleagues. You also need to complete a course in Anatomy and Physiology as well as nutritional therapy .
However, a good Kinesiologist never stop learning and training – there are always new tools and techniques that can be added to the Kinesiology toolbox. All members of the Association of Systematic Kinesiology are obliged to complete continual professional development on an annual basis. This ensures that standards are kept to the highest level for all members.
What happens during a consultation?
During the consultation your practitioner will take a medical and lifestyle history.
You can openly discuss any past and current health and well-being issues, and you can explain what you’re hoping to achieve from the session.
You can remain fully clothed during the session however we recommend that you wear something comfortable – skirts and dresses are best avoided.
Most of the session will be be taken up with muscle testing, which is the primary tool used in Kinesiology. Muscle testing Is a way of identifying imbalances someone may have within the body and mind. Each time the practitioner finds a priority imbalance, then they will establish the best way to remedy it, which can be by a variety of methods including (but not exclusively):
- Emotional stress release
- Appropriate Flower remedies
- Nutritional reward
- Gentle structural realignment
- Massage of reflex points
- Chakra balancing
- Working on acupressure points and meridians
- Lifestyle recommendations and changes
Once a priority in balance has been corrected and restored, other related imbalances will disappear. Using this system throughout the session allows the body to rebalance naturally.
