Our Podiatrist, Tim Hawes, shares his advice on choosing summer shoes.   With the warmer weather it’s perfectly natural to want to wear a more open shoe/sandal. However, often this type of foot wear is very flat and offers no support, ultimately decreasing shock absorption and increasing pressures in many parts of the foot. fitflop, recommended by podiatrists   At The Arches Foot Clinic we recommend FitFlops.   A great looking summer shoe/sandal that supports, cushions and feels fantastic!  You can read more about their technology on the FitFlops website.   When shoe shopping look for something with a cushioned sole and comfortably fitting straps.  It is best to vary your shoe choice from day to day – don’t wear the same pair all summer long.  Lastly, avoid flip flops unless you’re on the beach!
