In part 3 of our series of interviews we meet Tatina, a long standing member of our massage team.
Name: Tatina Semprini
What therapies do you offer?
Mainly Sports/Deep Tissue massage but also Ear candling, Facial and Abdominal massage. I work a lot with dancers, both dance students and professional dancers (Royal Ballet), but also treat ‘normal’ people at Ashlins.
When and where did you train?
I started my massage training in 1999, and have continued since then. Most of the training was done with Essentials for Health here in London, but my on-going CPD training has been with various other training providers. I have been practising massage full-time since 2001.
Why did you decide to become a massage therapist?
I always wanted to work with health and ‘heal’ people but couldn’t stand the sight of blood so knew being a doctor wasn’t for me. Massage was the next best thing, after a friend opened my eyes to this profession by suggesting I do massage ’cause I had good hands. After I had done a few day workshops to test the water I knew this was what I needed to do for the rest of my life. I had never felt that passionate about any other job before this. Massage can help so many people with so many different conditions and everyday aches and pains, and I like working together with other health professionals who specialize in other therapies.
Improving people’s health and lives and seeing somebody leave happy when they’re feeling better after a treatment makes my day. I can’t imagine ever doing anything else for a living. What could possibly be more gratifying?
