Have you heard of cabbage poultices?  They are excellent for sore throats, hot and swollen joints or bruised swollen skin.  Here’s how to make one at home.

Bruised or crush the cabbage leaves lightly with a rolling pin.
Blanch the leaves in boiling water.
Wrap the warm leaves around the affected area. Leave it for 2-4 hours (or at least 1 hour). You can hold the cabbage leaves in place with cling film.
