Our Acupuncturist, Sue Bailes, has been volunteering with victims of the Grenfell fire. She has been part of a team offering acupuncture for people suffering with stress following the fire.
Here’s what she has to say about the experience:
“I attended several sessions at the Dalgarno Community centre from 2 weeks after the fire.
We were offering “Emergency Acupuncture” at various London locations.
Since then, over 50 volunteer acupuncturists have joined the cause to treat the community for post traumatic stress. Some of the team have worked in Gaza.
In addition, a number of acupuncture supply companies agreed to match donations for equipment to aid the emergency acupuncture clinics.
A clinic is still running out of a mosque through World Acupuncture.
A year on, we have found that many people have benefited and are still benefiting from the auricular acupuncture.
Community Style Acupuncture consists of Auricular (ear) treatments using pre-packaged, sterilized, disposable needles or ear magnets. Treatments are done in a group setting using an effective protocol for reducing stress, panic and anxiety, improving sleep, and creating a general sense of well-being.
I feel privileged to have worked on the front line in the aftermath of this tragedy.”
