Q&A with Sue Bailes, Acupuncturist in Walthamstow East London

Name: Sue Bailes BSc (Hons) TCM: Acu, MAcS

What therapies do you offer?

Acupuncture, cupping, moxibustion and auricular Acupuncture.

When and where did you train?

I trained at the University of Westminster and qualified in 2000. I have a BSc (hons) in Traditional Chinese Medicine: Acupuncture. In 2013 I went to Shanghai, China and worked alongside a Dr Wong in a district hospital. I also did some postgraduate study at the University of Shanghai.

Why did you decide to become an acupuncturist?

I was interested in mental health.

I didn’t like the way western medicine seem to just prescribe antidepressants and felt there must be other ways of treating.

I looked at many different medical systems and decided as acupuncture treats holistically mind, body and spirit it may have a better way of calming the mind and dealing with stress and anxiety without popping a pill.

Describe your therapy in 10 words:

Acupuncture treats the mind, body and spirit – holistically.
