Therapeutic Massage, Massage in Cancer Care
Marissa is a compassionate Complementary Therapist who has worked in both clinical and private settings. She has level 3 qualifications in Swedish massage in 2006 and is also qualified in Massage in Cancer and Palliative Care and Deep Tissue.
She has worked in a number of local hospitals providing treatments to cancer and palliative care patients and carers.
Marissa works with clients and adapts treatments to suit their needs. She uses massage techniques to aid relaxation, manage stress, and reduce pain by releasing tense, tired muscles or knotted tissue.
She has experience treating people receiving cancer care or who have received cancer care in the past. She offers touch therapy to cancer patients living with cancer in various forms and stages as well as for patients in the last years of their life (palliative care). The aim is to use positive therapeutic touch to improve quality of life, helping with symptom management, as well as enhance mood and provide overall sense of well being.
Touch therapy is not promoted as an alternative treatment but can work alongside conventional medicine.
Marissa is registered with the Federation of Holistic Therapists.
