Astanga
Astanga yoga is not suitable for beginners, as it follows a more gymnastic approach designed to develop strength and stamina. There is less focus and on the spiritual aspect with breathing and meditation exercises kept to a minimum.


Hatha
Hatha yoga is the general name given to any form of physical yoga. It’s also used as a generic term for yoga classes that follow simple poses practised in a flowing form. Hatha yoga is very gentle and suitable for beginners.


Iyengar
Iyengar yoga follows the precise technique of creator B.K.S.Iyengar and is one of the most widely followed yoga styles. Iyengar is suitable for beginners, although poses are held for longer than in other yoga styles in an attempt to develop a calm state. Iyengar yoga is often referred to as ‘meditation in action’.
