Traditional Thai Massage is an ancient
healing art that has been preserved in the Temples of Thailand and
passed down orally from teacher to pupil since the 3rd century BC.
Chinese and Indian roots
Thai Massage has its roots in two forms of body work. From the
Chinese, Thai has incorporated ‘acupressure’ where
pressure points and channels known as Sen lines are stimulated.
From the Indian tradition, Thai Massage received the beautiful
stretches and postures of applied ‘Hatha Yoga’.
Thai Massage is very different to Western methods of massage
and may be more accurately described as “Yoga Massage”
with acupressure. If you’re looking for something different,
try Thai!
Rejuvenating
Thai Massage works on a number of different levels from general
physical tension and stress to issues that are more emotionally
based. It is a comprehensive and rejuvenating form of body work
that can be both deeply relaxing and highly energising. Ultimately,
Thai Massage aims to promote physical, mental and emotional health
and to restore balance, where imbalances exist, by stimulating
the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
Individual needs
Thai Massage can be beneficial for everyone. All treatments are
tailored to meet individual needs and you don’t have to
be flexible or have ever practised Yoga to benefit. Our Thai practitioner
will work with you within your own range of movement and state
of health.
Thai Massage usually takes place on the floor and a soft mat
is provided for your comfort. You will need to wear loose, comfortable
clothing such as a tracksuit and T-shirt. Expect a short consultation
before your treatment.
